Red Tree House Review Mexico City Fodors Travel

The free breakfast includes a rotating local special and is served in the tree-filled courtyard. Free beer and wine are also offered every evening, though the property isn't suitable for guests with children under 8. Those needing a more kid-friendly hotel may want to consider Hotel Geneve Ciudad de Mexico, which can arrange babysitting services if needed.

Mexico City’s number one B&B by providing its guests with genuine hospitality and personal service not found in standard accommodations.

Breakfast is included in room rates and is served in the courtyard each morning. It consists of coffee, tea, juice, pastries, fruit, cereal, and a Mexican specialty that changes each day. Free wine and beer are served in the courtyard in the evening. A computer and printer are set up in the Living Room for guests to use, and the player piano is available for entertainment. Children must be older than 8 years of age to stay here and guests should know that a dog resides in the house (guests are not allowed to bring pets). In a small property like this, service makes a major difference, and the staff is exceedingly accommodating and helpful.

Cot and extra bed policies

Our unique touch is in the details of each space and we are intentional with preparing an experience that will have our guests feeling like they're staying with friends. The bed-and-breakfast is in Condesa, Mexico City. The smaller house across the road is quieter and more private – it’s a good option if you don’t always want to be visible. It feels a little like we’re at a house party – with the freedom to come and go as we wish. We have more than 70 million property reviews, and they're all from real, verified guests.

Please inform The Red Tree House of your expected arrival time in advance. The Red Tree House is not just a hotel--it is an experience. Our room was comfortable, quiet and spacious, and the location is excellent. In our relatively short stay, we met lots of interesting and lovely people, mostly retirees from the US. We have traveled extensively throughout the world (especially in Latin America), the RTH is probably our favorite. The Red Tree House is housed in a residence built in the 1930s that has reputedly hosted artists and writers over the years.

The Red Tree House is situated in Condesa, a lovely residential neighborhood with tree-lined streets that are packed with shops, cafes, galleries, parks, and bars. It's one of the city's trendier districts and borders the equally hip Roma neighborhood. Chapultepec Park is a 20 minute stroll from the hotel (10 minutes by car or taxi) and is home to the city's zoo, Museum of Modern Art, and Museum of Anthropology.

This is the only place I'll stay in Mexico City. Enjoy an easy afternoon and a glass of wine in one of our common areas by the fireplace. It’s also very close to the city’s main attractions, like the world-renowned National Museum of Anthropology. If you’re used to sleeping in a king-size bed (like we are), rooms with a king-size bed are few at the Red Tree House. The staff (we remember Victor and Alejandro) are super helpful with restaurant and sightseeing recommendations. You’re also served a delicious hot plate, perhaps cheese-and-chicken quesadillas one morning and a cheese-and-pepper omelet with tomato sauce another.

It's a bit quirky, but it's beautiful and warm, and has the feeling of staying in a friend's home rather than a hotel. Guests enter from the tree-lined street into the cozy lobby with a small front desk at the back. There is vibrant contemporary Mexican artwork throughout, and a red glass chandelier hangs from the ceiling. One of the hotel's best features is its furnished courtyard with a jacaranda tree, many other plants and flowers, and fountains.

The staff is very attentive and exceeds expectations about how to make a traveler feel comfortable and included in what is going on. It displays featured reviews of the property. Super friendly staff, really welcoming and makes you feel like home away from home. Home cooked breakfast every morning was fantastic, loved that the dishes change every morning! There’s plenty of lounge area and happy hour is such a lovely idea to meet fellow travellers. Overall, it was our favourite stay in Mexico and loved the home vibe. It is set 1.2 mi from Chapultepec Forest and offers room service. This air-conditioned bed and breakfast features 11 bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. The nearest airport is Benito Juarez International, 6.2 mi from The Red Tree House, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service.

Instead you will find tasteful rooms, beautiful surroundings, congenial hosts, and interesting fellow guests. Award-winning travel writers, we share our insights and luxury travel tips to make your trip planning a breeze. If we were to stay in the smaller house across the street, we’d probably pick the room with a window opening to a tiny courtyard outside (but the room has two single beds). Eventually we tear ourselves away for dinner at a nearby restaurant, happy we picked this Mexico City bed-and-breakfast for part of our stay. A beautiful and calm place with very friendly and helpful staff and brilliant breakfasts. Exceptionally friendly staff — Victor and his team are warm and generous, taking time to get to know visitors and offer help and advice.Breakfast is great, too.

We enjoyed the common areas and nightly happy hour that encouraged interacting with other guests. The staff was always available to help with all requests. Small, boutiquey and personal vibe rather than feeling like a hotel. Breakfast was wonderful every morning in the beautiful courtyard with the amazing tree. The breakfast was lovely and Victor took great pride in introducing the guests to the dishes of Mexico.
